Born on 15 July 1962 in Ahmedabad, Bhupendra Patel grew up in a middle-class family. A civil engineer by education and a successful builder by profession, he understood the value of hard work, planning, and creating strong foundations—both in life and in governance.

From Local Leadership to State Leadership

Bhupendra Patel began his public service at the grassroots level as a municipal councillor in Ahmedabad. His transparent working style and ability to connect with people made him a trusted leader. He went on to serve as the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and as the Chairman of the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA), where he contributed to key infrastructure and urban development projects.‍

In 2017, Bhupendra Patel won the Ghatlodia constituency seat in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly by a record margin. His clean image, accessibility, and dedication to solving people’s problems made him stand out as a dependable leader.

On 13 September 2021, Bhupendra Patel took oath as the 17th Chief Minister of Gujarat.
