Early Life & Education

Born on 22 July 1970 in Nagpur, Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis grew up in a politically active family. His father, Gangadharrao Fadnavis, was a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council. Despite his political lineage, Devendra’s rise came through his own hard work, merit, and commitment to public welfare.
He earned degrees in Law, Business Management, and a Diploma in Methods and Techniques of Project Management from institutions in India and abroad.

Early Political Career

Fadnavis began his political journey in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s youth wing, where his leadership qualities quickly came to light. In 1992, at just 22 years old, he became a corporator in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation. By 1997, he was elected as the Mayor of Nagpur, becoming one of the youngest mayors in India.

Chief Minister of Maharashtra

In 2014, Devendra Fadnavis became the 18th Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and the second youngest in the state’s history. His tenure was marked by major reforms in infrastructure, urban development, agriculture, and governance transparency. Initiatives like the Mumbai Metro expansion, Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan (water conservation), and investments in industrial growth made him a popular and progressive leader.

Deputy Chief Minister Role

After the 2019 elections, he took on the role of Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra in 2022, continuing to work towards economic growth, urban transformation, and public welfare while navigating complex coalition politics.
